An Angry Brain: how to calm it? Change neural systems energy, adjust sensory processing from the inside out

M., Middle School Teen

there is a cool factor with these ancient practices - inclusive, intuitive, personalized, responsive = less stigma, more joy, less stress, more connectedness, more learning and living in wellness.

From personalized mindfulness practices with Special Education teacher Kiely and student M.

We were working with a neuro science/art piece to understand the brain( www.gregadunn.com). M. wanted to depict anger moving through the brain for our next lesson and then teach it to us.

"red was the most angry, mixed with orange and yellow. Orange was another anger and yellow is a softer mix of emotion. Angry moves all over the place and in many directions. The deep purple is emotions changing, finding calmness, breathing deeper and deeper. Watch and feel it, and then you’ll know how to do it.” STUDENT M. NARRATIVE

“Their growth is like no other I've seen in my 20 years of being a Special Education professional. I attribute this, in part, to Jen’s time with this student doing the practices of breath, mind and body regulation.” KIELY SpedEd

Infinity Practice of Sound Mind Breath Balance

1.

Multi-Sensory Practices include positive mantras or short phrases to repeat, and relaxation techniques are necessary for special education students to access this vibration in the neural system throughout the day. Working in small groups or one-on-one, the students look forward to this session as it is a time they can practice, relax and regroup. Over the past two years with M, the practices are like a breath of fresh air. It is super fun to do.

2.

This particular student M. has a brain functioning with autism. The practices have decreased their sensitivity to stimuli, reduced their frustrations, and allowed them to become more flexible both physically and mentally. When I first met this student two years ago they were not accessing academics. This year they are attending science, ELA and math classes, doing homework, class assignments, and reading. They are thriving in a classroom setting, raising their hand, participating and even reading aloud! They often take the lead on many group-based projects, especially when math or science are involved.

I feel really balanced. The Illumination was right on because I have had some releases, and been able to center. My senses are receptive. I am able to process with observation, feelings and this has been a beautiful experience. Remembering my feelings of feminine and balancing and healing. Thank You Jen!

There are some people who are so naturally gifted and it’s indescribable. Jen is one of those people. I fully trust Jen with any issue I need to work on. She holds a sacred space, comfortable and at ease before, during and after a session. She has a way of seeing deep into your soul, finding what needs to be healed and then assisting through the healing process. I walk away feeling lighter and with a feeling of peace and contentment after every session with Jen.
