A first grade class ignited the idea. They wanted to collaborate with other students in their school as well as students from other schools on island for help, artwork, and input. And, present their final book at Community Meeting which was exactly 16 weeks away. We set our creative, editorial, artistic and QA process – each week checking off our milestones, reviews, modifications. Working as their assistant, I carried our project class to class, school to school to do the input and review sessions and make updates to the manuscript as we worked. Approximately 800 students helped in this process, and we finished 3 days ahead of schedule which gave us time to figure out how to project our book in the OB gymnasium on a large screen for our community of students, parents, and friends to participate together.
